All things have an end, that's just the part of it, my fist experienced with his work was Dr. Slump, I loved it.

Dr. Slump is very good. The older I get the more I like the older stuff like Dragon Ball and Slump.

I will miss Akira for his originality and simplicity. A great loss for the art world indeed.

First Kentaro, now Akira... may the weeabo gods protect Junji, he's all we have left.

R.I.P He will be missed :'(

Not surprising he meant so much to so many people on here in particular. It's been really bittersweet seeing all the tributes.

To the legend that shaped our childhoods

rest in peace akira toriyama.

I rember i used to watch DBZ on cartoon network before going to school when i was small, rip :(

"What a tremendous loss. It's hard to even quantify how much Toriyama influenced and shaped not only the art world, but culture as a whole."

Exactly... You don't really think about it in those terms, but his influence was massive. He made an impact on the lives of millions of people. It's astounding.

May he rest in peace.

Yeah, it really is difficult to calculate how big of an impact he made, when everywhere you look you see some trace of his dna

The man. The myth. The legend.

When I was still a teenager, I had the good fortune to work with Takeshi Takahashi, creator of MaciGame, which can now be found in the Macintosh Repository. When I made a Dragon Ball set (koma) for the game, he sent it on to his friend Akira Toriyama, who proceeded to absolutely blow my mind by emailing me a thank you for showing his characters some love.

I was already a diehard fan of his work, and that small act made me feel...something almost indescribable. It was like, for the first time in my life, I was really a part of something larger than myself. All of these tributes, in word and imagery, make me feel something similar, but also like an era has ended. His legacy will always live on, as will the characters and worlds that he brought into being, but our world will be a bit less than it was without his singular creative genius.

It's up to the rest of us to remember; to help carry that legacy forward into the next generations. After this loss, I'm thinking of so many other great minds and artists who are aging far too fast and will one day leave this world, but will leave their mark indelibly upon it, and in our hearts. May we all be remembered so fondly by those who come after us.

Rest in peace, Akira Toriyama. If we could collect the Dragon Balls to summon Shenron and bring you back, we wouldn't hesitate.

that is a great story

Damn. I wasn't a Dragon Ball fan, but I loved his work in Dragon Quest and especially Chrono Trigger. That man has been a huge influence for many through decades. That fucking sucks man.

Very grateful he was appreciated while alive.

How did he die? Whats gonna happen to his IP?
