NEW POSTER... manwhore pixel art. New game in a few days.

::: NEW POSTER :::
So I created a KICKSTARTER to get my illustration "Robotic Nightmare" turned into a printed poster. So if you are a fan of badassery (that should be a word), head on over and make a donation and pick yourself up a print. ::: MANWHORE PIXEL ART :::
So I asked Sexual-Lobster if I could create a game based on gooseman and company. He said yes and I went to work on a pleasure island game.
The problem was, I just got done playing SUPER METROID, and just started to create a Manwhore platformer. But while building it out, I needed something for him to collect, and I though "Yogurt". That was the beginning of the end. Why would Yogurt be floating in the air? Why would Fernando eat miscellaneous Yogurt fond on the ground (okay, maybe he would do that)? Then I remembered all those games I grew up with that took famous characters that I loved and just tried to shoe horn them in to a platformed. "Flintstones, Beetlejuice, Rogerrabbit, Nightmare on elm st... the list goes on and on. " I couldn't do Fernando dirty like that. So It's back to the drawling board.
Anyway, I did create a fully functional platformer, including all Fernando's walk/fight/jump cycles. CLICK HEREto check out a pixel art walk cycle I uploaded to the portal.
I still have plans for the platformer engine I built out, and I hope I can use the other manwhore art I created in the next version.

Well just to blow off some steam, I created a mini game for you guys. It should be done in a day or two. Its features a well known nintendo characters. So keep your eyes pealed...

Platform engines! Are you doing a tile-based system or just registering lots of boxes in an array? So many ways to do platformers and I never know if there is a perfect way I should be doing. I don't use hitTest in Flash so that makes everything a little harder too... HitTest seems to do a pretty good job with crazy surfaces.

Kickstarted!

Yeah, they all have different strengths and weaknesses. I actually built 4 different platform engines. One tile-based, one hitTest, one that uses 4 "while" statements, and my latest is a hitTestShape.
So many things I want to try... so little time :D

Hmm, I've been fooling around with some actionscript recently (noob programmer here, durrr), maybe I should try making something... fun. I'll have to slowly wean myself off games that are probably played for the medals at least 50% of the time.

Not sure what the point of this comment is, actually. Maybe it's to talk about our mutual experience of backtracking in the interest of avoiding shoehorning things into places they don't belong (which I believe Fernando might enjoy).

Watch your movie "how to be a winner" and just exchange the word winner with programmer. And you will be a programmer in no time!

Your game : Zelda : Mini game is good,you should add a way to re-send NG medals (either a button or just make them send when you go back home),that would be useful,keep up the good work.
